This is personally the stupidest thing I have ever heard. It is Illinios' choice to have this Indian dance. The costume is real, but the dance is just for excitement.
The Indians, and everyone else, have to big of a reaction to this. To have an Indian dance during half-time is somewhat a sign of respect.
I totally see he Indians point of view, but no one is looking at the other side. Illiniwek is what is holding the school together, economically and spiritually. Take away the cheif, and destroy the school.

The Natives have a reason to stand up and say their opinions but they didn't need to make this much of a fuss about it.

I disagree. The Native Americans made this much of a "fuss" about it, and it still took forever for anything to get done about it. If they had done anything less, no one would have paid attention to them.

Guys, can I just quickly put this in perspective for you? You don't even have to agree with me, just think about it. Doesn't it bother you guys that they're putting the Native Americans in the same catagories as Bears and other animals? Let's face it guys, by having Native Americans as sports mascots, they're putting them in the same catagories as SOX!! Don't you feel that that is at ALL offensive, even just a little bit? In my opinion, if somone started calling my culture the same as sox and bears, I would be offened. And personally, I think you guys would be, too.

My response to the movie in whose honor is that NATIVE AMERICANS have been pushed aside on the side lines of a spiritual and religion game when the African Americans where on the chopping block they made a mascot of a streotpye of a black man but later that mascot was taken of but the cheif Illini and all the other Native American has not been taken off and I think they should.
